Glenn Dreyer, now retired, served as Connecticut College’s Director of the Arboretum and Adjunct Associate Professor of Botany. Glenn has played an instrumental role in the integration of the ecological sciences into the practice of landscape design. His dedicated work with Connecticut College and its Arboretum began in 1982 when he worked in landscape management, and he became the college’s Assistant Arboretum Director the following year. His work has focused on the interconnection between horticulture and ecology. His research has included vegetation management, invasive plants, plant community ecology, and urban forestry.
Darrel Morrison, FASLA, is a longtime advocate of native plants and native plant communities in landscape design and restoration, and has played a pivotal role in the development of the native landscape design field. He taught at Columbia University, and was Dean of the University of Georgia College of Environmental Design; he currently teaches at the University of Wisconsin Madison. Darrel’s designs include the expanded Native Flora Garden at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Old Stone Mill landscape at the New York Botanical Garden, and meadows at Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, New York.
