Registration Open! NDAL June – September Virtual Programs

Broadening Our Landscape Vision: Ecology, Culture, and Art
A Virtual Education Series

June – September 2021

Registration is open!

NDAL is offering a series of programming organized in two tracks: 1) Professional Practitioners and 2) Home Gardeners, Educators, & Students.

Topics for professionals will range from ecology-based landscape design, to culturally reflective landscapes, to the art of making “wild” landscapes legible. Larry Weaner will also teach a five-part intensive course on native design, planting, and management.

Join the room – virtually – for our Prairie-side Chat series as Larry Weaner interviews and compares notes with influential practitioners including Thomas Woltz, Leslie Sauer, & Tom Wessels.

Home gardeners and educators will explore ways to create landscapes that are ecologically healthy, easily managed, and beautiful on residential and educational properties.

Students interested in the landscape field will learn from Landscape Architect Ujijji Davis Williams & Landscape Designer and Contractor Larry Weaner about what it takes to enter the field, and the opportunities & challenges of starting a small landscape construction or maintenance business, particularly when few resources are available.

  1. I don’t see a schedule for the NDAL symposium. What are the dates and times of the Webinars? Would love to participate!

  2. Hello! I am a landscape designer practicting in the Southeast (Raleigh, North Carolina) and love the work and teachings of NDAL. Is the 5-session itnensive course applicable to our eco-region (practicing mostly in the NC piedmont)? Or would you recommend focusing on the other lectures instead? I realize all ecologial principles are translatable to some extent, but I know our heavy clay and wet winters makes some techniques harder to utilize down here. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you!

    • Hi Claire! Thank you for your interest in our programs and for reaching out about the intensive course. We describe it as geared toward Eastern and Midwestern States, which can include NC, yes! Like you said, many of the ecological principles will be translatable and the sessions will be largely applicable to your region as well.

      • Thank you very much for confirming!
